Chemical reagent is a necessary item in the chemical laboratory. According to the different properties of reagent, it is divided into highly toxic, oxidizing, flammable and explosive, corrosive, radioactive, etc. different reagents have different requirements for reagent bottles.
1. Material
The common materials of reagent bottles are glass and plastic. Hydrofluoric acid solution is a corrosive reagent, which has a strong corrosive effect on glass. If inhaled steam or contacted with skin, it will cause incurable burns. In order to ensure the stability of reagent, the plastic bottle should be selected when selecting the container.
2. Bottle mouth
Solid reagent and liquid reagent are used in different ways, so the requirements for bottle mouth are also different. Generally, wide mouth bottles are selected for solid reagents for easy access, and fine mouth bottles are selected for liquid reagents to prevent liquid from spilling and volatilization.
3. Bottle stopper
Bottles containing alkaline substances or water glass must be plugged with rubber or cork, because these substances will react with silica in the glass, resulting in adhesion between the bottle mouth and the bottle stopper, which is not easy to open, and there is a certain risk.
4. Colour
Reagents that are easy to decompose when exposed to light should be stored in brown bottles, such as iodine, silver nitrate, nitrate, chlorine water, etc. these substances are easy to decompose after exposure to light. Brown can prevent the irradiation of visible light and prevent the decomposition and deterioration of reagents.
There are many kinds of chemical reagents. Selecting appropriate reagent bottles for different reagents is the key to ensure their stability and the safety of laboratory personnel, which needs to be paid great attention. |
